Hi, I’m JD Boone, and plants have always been part of my story. My journey into the garden center world began in childhood, working alongside my parents at the small nursery they started in the 1970s. From pulling weeds to helping customers, I learned early on that growing plants was really about growing connections—with people, with nature, and with community.
I went on to study business at Wofford College in South Carolina, and eventually took over the nursery from my parents. These days, I spend most of my time growing this place we love—alongside my amazing wife, Mindy—while also staying busy as a hobby DJ, cheering on our two boys at their sports games, and staying active in our church community.

Hobbies: Equine photography, riding my horses, and spending time at home.
Fun Fact: Military brat, Oregon ranch girl, Martha’s Vineyard teen — moved South to collect horses.
Bio: Mondae keeps the nursery running smoothly and dabbles in every department, stepping in wherever she’s needed.

Meet Danielle -
Favorite Plant: Blue Star Fern
Favorite Animals: Cats (Luna, Leo, and Lucy)
Hobbies: Design, music, playing guitar, singing, and finding new products for the nursery
Fun Fact: Wiregrass native and Auburn Philosophy graduate — she brings style, creativity, and sparkle to Dothan Nurseries.
Bio: Danielle is our creative powerhouse and trendsetter, overseeing the showroom and renovations, adding artistic flair wherever she’s needed, and running our social media like a pro — even though she never interacts on it herself.
Color Team Manager/Landscape Design
Favorite Plants: Philodendrons (indoors), Lenten Roses (outdoors)
Favorite Animals: Dogs, cats, snakes, and reptiles (she loves all animals!)
Hobbies: Reading, gardening, and caring for her pets
Fun Fact: With degrees in veterinary medicine and real estate, plants stole her heart in 2020.
Bio: Megan brings creativity and care to everything she grows, overseeing annuals, perennials, and houseplants, and designing beautiful landscapes.

Favorite Animals: Her blue healer, Remi, and her rescued orange cat, Ronnie, whom she found in the bushes at the nursery
Hobbies: Gardening, spending time with her family, and enjoying simple pleasures
Fun Fact: A Wiregrass native, she left her medical career to get her hands delightfully dirty at the nursery.
Bio: Joy brings energy and care to every task, helping out wherever she’s needed and making the nursery a little brighter every day.
Showroom Service Specialist
Favorite Plant: Trees and shrubs of all kinds
Favorite Animals: Dogs and cats (she’s fostered countless cats, currently has her pup Dozer, and is fostering a dog named Geode)
Hobbies: Reading, cooking, and spending time with her family
Fun Fact: Frandy is the amazing mom of five, with two dogs and several cats.
Bio: Frandy is the friendly face at the registers, helping guests and answering questions, and she also inputs most of our purchase orders, keeping the nursery running smoothly.
Grounds Maintenance
Favorite Plant: Maple tree
Favorite Animals: Our nursery cats
Hobbies: Watching his two children grow, landscaping, and keeping his own yard beautiful
Fun Fact: His son is an amazing soccer player

David plays a crucial role in maintaining the outdoor spaces around the nursery, keeping everything looking its best.

Favorite Animals: Dogs and cats
Hobbies: Playing guitar, bass, and banjo, enjoying the outdoors, and tending to his plants
Fun Fact: Jon loves making all kinds of fun, healthy treats
Bio:
Jon brings his knowledge and care to the nursery, helping guests with all their tree and shrub needs while sharing his love for plants and the outdoors.

Favorite Animals: Her dog, with a soft spot for cats (perfect since we have three nursery cats!)
Hobbies: Movie nights with her family and playing video games with her daughter
Fun Fact: Brittany was once the Assistant GM for a huge restaurant chain before choosing a completely different path
Bio: Brittany brings energy and warmth to the nursery, helping out wherever she’s needed and making every day brighter for our guests and team.
