Hi, I’m JD Boone, and plants have always been part of my story. My journey into the garden center world began in childhood, working alongside my parents at the small nursery they started in the 1970s. From pulling weeds to helping customers, I learned early on that growing plants was really about growing connections—with people, with nature, and with community.
I went on to study business at Wofford College in South Carolina, and eventually took over the nursery from my parents. These days, I spend most of my time growing this place we love—alongside my amazing wife, Mindy—while also staying busy as a hobby DJ, cheering on our two boys at their sports games, and staying active in our church community.
If you ever stop by, I’d love to meet you—just ask for me, and I’ll be happy to give you a personal tour of Dothan Nurseries. It really is something special, and I think you’ll feel it the moment you arrive.
General Manager
Meet Mondae, an animal enthusiast passionate about creatures of all sizes. As our dedicated general manager, she ensures smooth nursery operations and steps in wherever needed. Mondae also showcases her talent as an equine photographer and adds creative flair to our website, playing a vital role in harmonizing all our elements.
Buyer/Social Media Manager
Meet Danielle, our creative powerhouse and trendsetter. With a Philosophy degree from Auburn, she's the mind behind our showroom and renovations, bringing the latest styles to Dothan Nurseries.
A Wiregrass native, Danielle infuses artistic flair into everything she does. When not finding new products, she's with her cats, Luna, Leo, and Lucy. She's also an artist in design and music, playing guitar and singing.
Color Team Manager/Landscape Design
Meet Megan! With degrees in veterinary medicine and real estate, she’s done a little bit of everything—but plants stole her heart in 2020. As our Annuals & Perennials Manager and Landscape Designer, she brings creativity and care to everything she grows. When she’s not at the nursery, you’ll find her curled up with a good book or tending to her ever-growing collection of snakes and lizards (yes, really!).
Color Team Associate
Allow us to introduce Joy, a true local of the Wiregrass region. Taking a departure from her medical career, she's now getting her hands delightfully dirty with us!
In her spare moments, Joy finds solace in life's simpler pleasures alongside her husband and their two boys, Connor and Trevor. Their family moments are a true testament to the beauty of life's uncomplicated joys.
Showroom Service Specialist
Meet Frandy! As the friendly face behind our Service & Support Desk, she’s often the first person to welcome you to Dothan Nurseries. From greeting guests and answering questions to connecting people with the perfect team member, Frandy makes sure every visit starts off right. She’s also the genius who keeps our preorders running like clockwork! A proud mother of five, Frandy is a cat rescuer at heart and recently added a sweet pup named Dozer to the family. When she’s not at the nursery, she’s likely enjoying a good book or whipping up something delicious in the kitchen.
Grounds Maintenance
David enjoys watching his two children grow up. He works hard outside of Dothan Nurseries keeping his yard beautiful. Here at Dothan Nurseries, he plays a crucial role in maintaining the outdoor spaces around the nursery.
Greenhouse Manager
Meet Blakely, our new Greenhouse Manager and Wiregrass native who loves dogs, cooking, and reading. She’s working on her first fantasy memoir. After a year working under Cody, Blakely explored other opportunities but quickly realized Dothan Nurseries is home. Now she’s stepped into the manager role as Cody begins a new journey in Oregon, and we’re excited to have her leading the greenhouse with creativity and care.
Tree & Shrub Associate
Meet Jon! After years in a career that kept him on the road, Jon chose to stay closer to home and spend more time with his wife and two daughters. A lifelong musician, he’s been playing guitar, bass, and banjo for over 40 years, and when he’s not strumming a tune, you’ll find him enjoying the outdoors and tending to his plants. Stop by and say hello—Jon is here to help you with all your tree and shrub needs!
